Alva D. Hurst

The drawings are elegant Art Deco-style line illustrations of domestic discipline scenes.The style shows strong similarities to the early work of Claire Willows (notably Modern Slaves, 1931). It is therefore quite possible that Alva D. Hurst was a pseudonym used by the same artist, or that the two names are closely connected within this underground scene. Official credits of the Aurora Press edition and later reprints, however, consistently list Alva D. Hurst.
