William Hess Ward (1919–1998), affectionately known as Bill Ward, was a trailblazing American cartoonist and illustrator whose provocative "good girl" art captured the sultry spirit of mid-20th-century pin-up culture.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Ward honed his craft at the Pratt Institute before diving into the vibrant world of comics and commercial art. His iconic creation, the flirtatious and often scantily clad character Torchy, debuted in 1946 and became a staple of risqué humor in titles like Blackhawk and Humorama gag books, blending playful sensuality with sharp wit.Ward's true legacy, however, shines brightest in his later erotic illustrations for men's magazines such as Juggs and Leg Show, where his fluid lines, masterful shading, and unapologetic celebration of the female form brought fetish fantasies to life.
