Max Henze

~ unknown

So far I was unable to find any information about this artist, other then some books he illustrated for. I also found a few artworks showing scenes from the Spanish inquisition (I think). These come probably from a book but I could not find more info for these artworks.

It does look like Henze illustrated more books from Rudolf Quanter (1861 - 1938) who wrote books about the history of torture. Read more here.

It looks like some books have the same artworks, I have to invest some more to see if this is correct. I am also not entirely sure if for some books all illustrations are by Henze since some have a signature and others don't.

  • Die freie Liebe und ihre Bedeutung im Rechtsleben der Jahrhunderte eine kulturhistorische Studie (1906)
  • Die Schand- und Ehrenstrafen in der deutschen Rechtspflege (1901)
  • Venus Imperatrix (1906)
