Shoji Oki

10 albums/143 artworks – Oki is born on April 16th in Sumiyoshi, Hyogo Prefecture, but was raised in Osaka. He became a well known bondage artist. I could not find out is he is still alive (then he would become 102 in April). In 1945 he studied oil painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (currently Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) and in 1947 he started working in Western style.He illustrated  Kondo Amatoria in the Nov 1951 issue of Kitan Club and during Spring 1953 his illustrations started to appear in 1001 Nights magazine, he even did one or more covers for this magazine. Through Genzou Ariyoshi’s introduction, Oki illustrated Toshiyasu Sawa’s The Mermaid and the Dagger (1958). Shoji Oki…
