Paul Kamm

Born in Berlin, Germany, he was a visionary illustrator and artist whose provocative works captured the underground allure of FemDom and BDSM themes during the Weimar era. Also known by his birth name Paul Klamm and the enigmatic pseudonym C. Soulier, Kamm’s oeuvre, marked by intricate watercolor drawings of female‑female and female‑male dynamics, spanking scenes, and enema erotica, stands as a bold testament to the period’s sexual liberation and fetish exploration.
Active primarily in the 1920s and 1930s, Kamm’s illustrations appeared in avant‑garde periodicals such as Reigen, Berliner Leben, Die Ohne, and Der Junggeselle. His contributions extended to illustrated books that delved into taboo desires, including Der gestiefelte Eros: Lebensbeichte eines transvestitischen Schuhfetischisten (1932), Rolf und die Gouvernante (1930, by Gitta Fritz), and Der sonderbare Turnlehrer. These pieces, often rendered around 1930, blend technical finesse with psychological depth, influencing anonymous works later attributed to him through meticulous archival research.
Kamm’s legacy endures in more than 62 preserved artworks across ten thematic albums, with recent discoveries, including three vibrant coloured additions to a “Mixed FemDom” collection in 2023, continuing to illuminate the shadowy intersections of art, power, and pleasure. Although details of his personal life remain elusive beyond his Berlin origins, Kamm’s fearless depictions remain a cornerstone of vintage BDSM iconography, challenging conventions and inspiring generations of erotic artists.
