Félicien Joseph Victor Rops was a Belgian artist, celebrated above all as a master printmaker specializing in etching and aquatint. He is renowned for his provocative drawings that fuse intense eroticism with Satanic and macabre themes. Rops also holds historical importance as a pioneer in Belgian comics.
