In the mid-1930s, under the mysterious pseudonym Wighead, one of the most talented and sought-after illustrators of French fetish erotica emerged. Active between roughly 1932 and 1936, Wighead became legendary for his elegant, highly detailed, and intensely erotic drawings that captured the world of bondage, female domination, flagellation, and fetishistic submission with remarkable sophistication.
One of his most celebrated works is the illustrated book Chair Sanglée ou les Voluptés fétichistes (Strapped Flesh or Fetishistic Pleasures), written by Grégor Yvan and published around 1934–1935 by Le Jardin d’Éros in Paris. This rare publication is renowned for its powerful depictions of strict bondage, leather restraints, dominance, and voluptuous torment. Wighead’s distinctive style, crisp linework, dramatic shading, and a refined sense of decadent atmosphere, helped define the golden age of pre-war French BDSM art.
The complete album contains 46 original illustrations, making it one of the most substantial and iconic collections from this secretive master of fetish illustration.
