~ 1922 - 1981
Ran Akiyoshi was born in 1922. In 1946, after the end of the war, he went to Tokyo and in 1947 he married and made a living by drawing portraits of US military officers.
Around 1950 he started working on covers.
Akiyoshi drew illustrations and covers for Fuzoku Soshi, Kitan Club, Dekameron, Houseki, Uramado, Kinbaku-Bi, SM Collector, Suspense Magazine, SM Fan, SM Fan Extra, SM Kitan, SM Play and more.
Despite all those publications there is not a lot known about this artist, it seems his art is discovered in (more) modern day times. Between 1970 and 1980 there were some publications and in 2020 there was an exhibition with his art.
Ran Akiyoshi died in 1958 from a stroke.
It took me a lot of time to find artworks from this artist since there is so little to find.
