Published by Carlos Ameller in Barcelona, the book presents itself as a compilation with notes and glosses by “Dr. Antonio San de Velilla”. Whether this name is a pseudonym (possibly linked to Velilla de San Antonio) remains unclear. The work heavily draws on existing sadomasochistic classics and bibliography, wrapped in a pseudo-scientific/medical guise. The book features two albums with original spanking illustrations by several artists. The Illustrators Album 1 anonymous artists, J.R and Pierre Noël (Leon Pierre).
